From California Cross, take the road towards Modbury bearing left at the signpost for Bigbury. Proceed along this road for about three-quarters of a mile and the woodland will be found immediately on the left hand side at Hangman's Cross.

SITUATION
The woodland is situated between the village of Aveton Gifford and California Cross, a short distance from the Georgian town of Modbury in the heart of the South Hams area of South Devon.
The nearest town of Modbury is about 3 miles away, the village of Aveton Gifford 2½ miles distant and the A38 dual carriageway expressway connection at Wrangaton, connecting to the M5 motorway and national road network, about 6 miles to the north.
DESCRIPTION
Extending to a total of some 12.26 acres (4.96 hectares) and as approximately outlined in red on the attached plan, Torrdown Plantation may be accessed off the road leading from Hangman's Cross to Aveton Gifford.
This woodland is a woodland of mixed broadleaved trees and shrubs.
Reasonably well established and occupying a reasonably level site, this woodland provides a good timber resource for small forestry projects, general recreation or amenity purposes, or as a source of wood fuel for woodburning stoves and such like.
There are small clearings within the wood, making ideal areas for camping. The sunny clearings allow for the growth and spread of various flora, such as rhododendron and various mosses.
WATER SUPPLY
There is no water supply to the woodland, however it is believed that there is an underground water supply pipe which may be available for connection subject to South West Water regulations.
PUBLIC FOOTPATH
There are no public footpaths which cross the woodland.
